Good Luck & Study Hard!
The UTPA has been keeping busy the last month. Here is a review of what we’ve been up to.
We ended October with our annual Halloween Party which we hope you all had fun at. We were able to create new friendships with IUSCA (Italian Undergraduate Student Canadian Association).
On November 6th, together with OLAS, we welcomed roughly 35 high school students who expressed interest in pursuing post secondary education at the University of Toronto. We were lucky to have Dr. Manuela Marujo as our keynote speaker. Along with students from both student groups we also had the presence of Miguel Marques Dias, a member of Luso-Can Tuna who spoke to the students about extra curricular activities and about the importance of continuing portuguese traditions such as the tuna so far from our native land. Students were able to ask questions, tour the campus, sit in on a university lecture and enjoy some rissois and empanadas.
Just this past Monday, on November 11, the UTPA walked over to the Canadian Blood Services on Yonge St and donated blood. This gave us an opportunity to show how thankful we are for our health and also as a way to honour the heroes of our country.
We have many more events planned to make this year a meaningful one. If you are not yet on our mailing list and would like to receive our emails please send us an email to email@example.com
Everyone at the UTPA is working hard to bring you news very soon about our first event of the year. Stay tuned!
Welcome to the University of Toronto!
The University of Toronto Portuguese Association looks to ease the transition of 1st year students by providing them with a home amidst the sometimes intimidating and multicultural U of T community. Look for our table today at various club fairs! There may be a treat waiting for you and if you’re interested in our club you can get your membership card for $2.
We look forward to meeting you!
I’m pleased to announce that as of today we have a newly revised constitution which you can find under the constitution tab.
Enjoy the rest of summer!
The UTPA ended the academic year with its customary participation in the Portugal Day Parade. It was extremely exciting to see the positive reaction of the portuguese community applauding post secondary education. A big thank you goes out to everyone in the community that helped us this past year; professors, sponsors, family and friends. We hope to continue to strengthen our relationship with all of you in the coming year.
We are coming to you with news of our first event of the year!
This Friday, October 12th, 2012 @ 2:00 pm we will be hosting a Meet and Greet!
Where you ask? You can find us in Wilson Hall (40 Willcocks St) in the basement, which houses the student life center and our office!
This event is designed to give new and old members alike an opportunity to meet the new exec team, discover our office space and get up to speed about what events we have planned for the year! This is also the perfect opportunity to tell us what kinds of events you would like to see us organize over the course of the year. We are so excited to hear your ideas! Oh, and let’s not forget, there will be delicious treats and refreshments too! Be sure to swing by and bring your friends along!
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
